365 Ways to Save Gas -- about the author.

Dr. Ron Weiers is an automotive enthusiast who enjoys driving, tinkering, writing, and thinking of ways to save fuel. He has authored eight previous automotive books, on topics ranging from repair and maintenance to fuel efficiency and safety. In addition to having an undergraduate degree in engineering, Dr. Weiers has earned graduate degrees from the University of Pittsburgh and the Massachusetts Institute of Technology.

Dr. Weiers is a long-time member of the Society of Automotive Engineers, and has served as a marketing, technical, and automotive consultant to that organization as well as private corporations and governmental agencies such as the U.S. Department of Energy and the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration. Dr. Weiers definitely practices the tips included in this book. In fuel-economy contests, he and his family station wagon (including family and large dog) have routinely defeated serious contestants driving two-seaters and economy sedans weighing one-third less than his own vehicle.

A professor at four different universities during his teaching career, Dr. Weiers is also an experienced teacher and textbook author in the fields of marketing research and business statistics. He enjoys making complicated things understandable, has written two editions of Marketing Research, and has just published the 6th edition of his Introduction to Business Statistics textbook. He is Professor Emeritus at Indiana University of Pennsylvania and currently serves as adjunct professor at the H. John Heinz III School of Public Policy and Management, Carnegie Mellon University.

Always in pursuit of better and smoother ways to save fuel, even when it was cheap and we were not so concerned about the environmental and political issues surrounding its use, the author has become even more fervent about the quest for conservation. In April 2007, he and his book were featured on MotorWeek, the popular PBS TV program seen on more than 620 stations nationwide. He sincerely hopes the ideas and inspiration within these pages will both motivate and help you to save fuel, the environment, and, perhaps of greatest immediate importance to you, your hard-earned dollars!
